LODGING RESERVATIONS are closed on this site.  If you need a new reservation, please email the Director about availbility.  If you are looking for a roommate, please use the SLIG forum.  All other changes may be given to the Hilton hotel directly; or emailed to the director in the event of a challenge.
The Institute is held at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center. The property features comfortable meeting space, large networking areas, and four-star comfort. They offer spacious lodging rooms with stunning views, a compact refrigerator, work desk, and a safe large enough to fit a laptop. Additional information and a list of all amenities may be accessed at Hilton.com.  All rooms are non-smoking.

Location:  The Hilton is located at 255 South West Temple. It is located approximately 3 city blocks from the FHL. SLIG will be offering a complimentary shuttle service to the FHL for labs and after classes.  Shuttles do not run in the morning or during lunch; please plan accordingly.

Why Stay at the Conference Hotel:  Besides the convenience of being on-site with everything easily accessible, and having all the comforts of home in this plush environment, staying at the conference hotel helps keep SLIG registration fees reasonable. We thank you in advance for your support and hope you enjoy your pampered Hilton stay.
Group Rate:  SLIG participants may reserve lodging at the group rate of $134 single, double, triple, or quad, allowing you to choose individual privacy or an economical shared experience. Guests in this block will also receive complimentary self-parking in the underground garage (value $14/day) and complimentary wireless internet in the guest room (value $9.99/day). Rates apply to standard 1 King and 2 Queen rooms; premium rooms and suites may be available at varying rates upon request.
Availability:  Our hotel block allows for limited check-in as early as Sunday, January 3rd and stays through the week following SLIG as late as Saturday, January 23rd.  Please note that a city-wide convention will be held in SLC through January 9th (affecting availability of rooms) and the Family History Library will be closed on Monday, January 18th for the Martin Luther King holiday.
Cutoff:  Group rates will be available as long as rooms remain available in the block or through December 10, 2015, whichever comes first. After that time, reservations will be taken directly by the hotel based on availability and prices may vary. 

To Reserve your room:  To assure the most economical rate possible for our participants, SLIG will be reserving rooms through the use of a group rooming list. That means that you will reserve your room on this website rather than through the hotel site.  This provides you a savings of 12.6% or $16.88 per night per room, making your lodging cost a true $134 per night.  This will not apply to reservations made outside the SLIG group reservation system. 
Roommates:  Roommate names should be added at the time of your reservation, if known.  This will facilitate management both on our end and at the hotel - as it relates to separation of incidentals, issuing keys, etc. Please make sure that these names are current.  If at any time you need to cancel and transfer the room to one of your roommates, please let us know.  You may update this information by emailing us anytime prior to December 10th.  Changes after that time will be directed to the hotel.
If you are looking for a roommate, visit our new SLIG Forum to post or find an opportunity. SLIG does not assign roommates, but we are happy to help you facilitate the process and will gladly update your reservation to reflect your new preferences.
Hilton Honors Points:  Please put your Hilton HHonors number in the "special requests" section if you are a member.   
Payment:  One night's deposit ($134) will be required at the time of the reservation. Please note that this policy was waived last year by the Hilton at our request but has been included in our contract for 2016.  The deposit will be paid directly to SLIG, who will be guaranteeing your room, and may be paid by credit card of check. Checks not received within 14 days of reservation may result in the release of your reservation.
Prior to completing your reservation you will be asked your preferences for payment.  The following options are available:
  • Deposit of $134 (due with reservation):
    • Check/money order:  made payable to UGA and received within 14 days of booking
    • Credit card/PayPal:  to be charged at checkout
  • Balance Due:
    • Check:  payable to UGA by December 1, 2015
    • Credit Card:  card provided to the hotel at check-in
Please note that while the cutoff for reservations is December 10th, all checks must be received by SLIG/UGA no later than December 1, 2015 to allow time to clear our bank and assure funds are available for us to pay the hotel on your behalf.
Incidentals:  Regardless of payment mechanism, you will be required to provide a credit card to the hotel upon checking in to guarantee any incidentals you may charge to your room.  You will be required to pay for those incidentals upon checking out.

Cancellation/Penalties:  Refund of the first night's deposit ($134) and any other pre-payments made toward the lodging balance, will be provided if cancellation is received by December 10, 2015. Cancellation after that date or failure to check-in will result in forfeiture of the deposit as well as the room. In the event that you paid in full with a check, a refund will be made less the deposit amount of $134.
A change of departure/check-out date made after check-in will result in a fee of $50 assessed by the hotel.  Please make sure you review your reservation carefully and make any adjustments prior to that time.
Please note that cancellation of a reservation results in cancellation for all parties involved.  Therefore, if you are sharing the room, and the other parties still need the room, please contact us to transfer the reservation rather than cancel the room.
