Lodging Reservations will open separately in early July.
The Institute is held at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center. The property features comfortable meeting space, large networking areas, and four-star comfort. They offer spacious lodging rooms with stunning views, a compact refrigerator, work desk, and a safe large enough to fit a laptop. Location:  The Hilton is located at 255 South West Temple. It is located approximately 3 city blocks from the FHL. SLIG will be offering a complimentary shuttle service to the FHL for labs and after classes.

Group Rate:  SLIG participants may reserve lodging at the group rate of $134 single, double, triple, or quad, allowing you to choose individual privacy or an economical shared experience. Guests in this block will also receive complimentary self-parking in the underground garage (value $14/day) and complimentary wireless internet in the guest room (value $9.99/day).
Availability:  Our hotel block offers check-in as early as Sunday, January 3rd for those who wish to arrive early for additional research, and as late as Tuesday, January 19th. Extended dates may be possible and are based on availability. In making your plans, please note that the Family History Library will be closed on Monday, January 18th for the Martin Luther King holiday.
Cutoff:  Group rates will be available as long as rooms remain available in the block or through December 1, 2015, whichever comes first. After that time, reservations will be taken directly by the hotel based on availability and prices may vary.

To Reserve your room:  To assure the most economical rate possible for our participants, SLIG will be reserving rooms through the use of a group rooming list. That means that you will reserve your room on this website rather than through the hotel site.  The bottom line?  Savings of 12.6% or $16.88 per night per room, making your lodging cost a true $134 per night.  A deposit will be required (this would have been the policy if you were booking directly with the hotel as well for this year); additional details below.  
Roommates:  The system will ask you for the names of your roommates. This will facilitate management both on our end and at the hotel - as it relates to separation of incidentals, issuing keys, etc. Please make sure that these names are current; you may log in using your member number or your email address and confirmation number at any time after reservation to make updates.
Payment:  One night's deposit will be required at the time of the reservation and may be paid by credit card or check. You may opt to pay more at that time if you wish.  Checks not received within 14 days of reservation may result in the release of your reservation. You must be paid in full prior to checking into the hotel and will be required to present a credit card upon check-in to guarantee any incidental charges, which are on your own.  Checks must be received by SLIG/UGA no later than December 1, 2015 to allow time to clear our bank and assure funds are available for us to pay the hotel on your behalf.
To assure you have maximum flexibility with your cash flow, we are providing multiple ways to pay the balance due:
  • Installments
    • By Check:  pay in two or more installments on dates of your choice anytime between the time of reservation as long as the first check is received no later than September 1, 2015 and the final check is received no later than December 1, 2015.
    • By Credit Card:  you will be invoiced for one-half of the balance due on September 1, 2015 and the rest on December 1, 2015.  Payment must be made within 5 days of invoice.  You may also opt to select an amount larger than the minimum deposit at the time of reservation; you will then be invoiced for the balance as outlined above.
  • In a Single Payment
    • By Check:  you may choose to pay in full at any time prior to December 1, 2015.  
    • By Credit Card:  you may choose to pay in full upon registration if you wish.  Or, you may choose to wait and pay just prior to check-in.  This latter option is available only to those checking into the hotel on or after Friday, January 8, 2016 and no later than Monday, January 11th.  The SLIG registration booth will be open to accept lodging payments limited hours on Friday and Saturday, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, and from 8:00 am to noon on Monday.
Please note that failure to make payment may result in the loss of your reservation. Please email us at any point in time with issues or concerns to assure that this does not happen.
Incidentals:  You will be required to provide a credit card to the hotel upon checking in to guarantee any incidentals you may charge to your room.  You will be required to pay for those incidentals upon checking out; these will not be covered through your reservation through UGA.

Cancellation/Penalties:  Refund of the first night's deposit ($134) may be made if cancellation is received by December 10th. Cancellation after that time, no-shows, and those failing to pay the balance due on time will forfeit this deposit. If you have roommates but are unable to attend in person, please make sure you contact us to transfer the reservation.
