Hilton Salt Lake City Center

We are pleased to announce that the 20th annual Institute will be held at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center.  The property features comfortable meeting space, large networking areas, and four-star comfort.  They offer spacious lodging rooms with stunning views, a compact refrigerator, work desk, and a safe large enough to fit a laptop.  Additional information and a list of all amenities may be accessed at Hilton.com.

Location:  The Hilton is located at 255 South West Temple.  We realize that it is a bit further from the Family History Library than our previous location.  For this reason, we will be offering a complimentary shuttle service to the FHL for labs and research, and returning to the Hilton during key times.

Group Rate:  SLIG participants may reserve lodging at the group rate of $129 single, double, triple, or quad.  Guests in this block will also receive complimentary self-parking in the underground garage (value $14/day) and complimentary wireless internet in the guest room (value $9.99/day).

Availability:  Our hotel block offers check-in as early as Sunday, January 4th for those who wish to arrive early for additional research or to attend the APG Professional Management Conference, and as late as Tuesday, January 20th.  Extended dates may be possible and are based on availability.  In making your plans, please note that the Family History Library will be closed on Monday, January 19th for the Martin Luther King holiday.

Cutoff:  Group rates will be available as long as rooms remain available in the block or through December 10, 2014, whichever comes first.  After that time, reservations will be taken by the hotel based on availability and prices may vary.

Cancellation/Penalties:  A credit card will be required in order to guarantee your reservation, but will not be charged until check-in.  A 24-hour notice is required for cancellation without penalty.  No-shows will be charged one night plus tax, and the remainder of the reservation released.  Early departures after check-in will be charged a $50 fee.

Straight talk from our Hotel Liaison:  Besides the convenience of being at the conference hotel and having all the comforts of home in this plush environment, there is one more very important reason to stay at the Hilton — doing so is what makes the Institute budget work and keeps SLIG registration fees reasonable.  In lieu of highly priced meeting room fees, hotels establish a minimum number of sleeping rooms that must be filled to offset those fees.  Therefore, while we don’t “require” our participants to stay in the conference hotel, we strongly encourage them to do so in order to assure the ongoing success of the program.  Besides which, you will remain in the center of all the fun!  We thank you in advance for your support and hope you enjoy your pampered Hilton stay.
